Have you ever wondered what your reading capabilities are? Did you know that reading fast is not an indication of fluency and actually affects your comprehension?
Reading is an activity that requires a great amount of concentration in order to have a purpose, otherwise it becomes a waste of time and a sure way to frustration. Reading with pace is as important as remembering to what you read. It is not enough to have a clear prosody and a perfect intonation if you can not remember the details of what you read.
In this post, we will be sharing a series of tools that you can use to not only test your reading speed but also your comprehension of the text and your reading level. Test these interactive activities and let us know in the comment sections what the results are. In future posts, we will surely do our best to address the issues you share the most.
This page is perfect for those who still don't know their reading level. You can select a theme for a text, then select among the thirteen levels inside and lastly you select one of the three stories. The stories will vary according to the previous selection. Once you select the story number a timer will start running aaaaand time to read! Once you finish, click on "Done reading" and you will have a series of questions to check your memory and the algorithm will give you the result of how many words per minute you read. The page is plain and not as interactive as many other but hey, you cannot argue the usefulness it has.
